Frequently Asked Questions
What is sushi?
Sushi is a traditionally Japanese food made with rice seasoned with sweet rice vinegar, combined with bite-size pieces of fish and vegetables, either wrapped in rolls with roasted sheets of seaweed or made into “nigiri” — a slice of seafood placed on top of a hand-shaped rice ball.
It’s low in calories, cholesterol, fat, and sodium, and may contribute to why the Japanese people live longer on average than any other group.
Does all sushi have raw fish in it?
No! In fact, the majority of our sushi products are made with cooked seafood or fresh vegetables — for example, our California rolls, Eel Cucumber rolls, and Vegetarian Combo rolls. In fact, only salmon and tuna in our product line are served raw. But rest assured, we use only the freshest sushi-grade quality fish, and we make our sushi every morning and deliver it the same day for a safe, delicious meal.
How do you eat sushi?
Sushi is traditionally eaten with a mixture of wasabi (spicy green horseradish paste) and soy sauce. A bit of ginger is also eaten to cleanse the palate between individual sushi. But whether or not you choose to practice these traditional methods, sushi is still delicious!
